Land Rover entered production with the Series One in 1948. The model was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show and was originally designed for farm and light industrial use. The incredibly well built Land Rover had a steel box section chassis and an aluminium body. This smartly presented example has come to us from a regular customer based near Penrith. The Land Rover has come to us in excellent mechanical order and has to be one of the very best driving examples we have come across. On the road this vehicle is exceptional with a beautiful, strong 2.0 engine, particularly quiet gearbox and rear axle. The Land Rover starts up on the button, performs superbly and has sharp brakes and very good handling. It is a delight on the road and surprisingly quiet. Recent work includes a full service, new front springs, new brake linings, new headlights, and new gear lever reverse springs. Further new parts include a fuel tank, tyres, rocker cover gasket, exhaust rear silencer, water pump, hoses and heater air hoses.
